Hello Families,
The summer registration is approved and ready! The link to the PK contract is:

PK:  Project Kids is for children entering kindergarten through the summer of 5th grade.

PSPK: Preschool Project Kids is for children who will not be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2017 (ages 3-5). If your child is eligible to attend KoMet Kids beginning in September (must be 3 by September 1, 2017 and be completely potty-trained), your child is welcome to join us this summer. Are you wondering if your 5 year old is ready for PK? You’re more than welcome to have them remain with the PSPK class throughout the summer! Just make sure to fill out the PSPK contract. If you do register for PSPK, your child will stay in PSPK for the duration of the summer.

Please note that ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE BROUGHT TO A ZERO BALANCE PRIOR TO JUNE 2nd. for your registration to be accepted and for your child to attend summer session.

Calendars: Field trips will be in Red (Grade 2nd. To 5th. grade) and Blue (Grade K - 1st. grade), Orange indicates swimming lessons that PK brings to/from, Black (Fridays AM) indicates events that include all of PK-no stay back group will be available.

Summer Calendars

Field Trips PK: NEW THIS YEAR!  The field trips will be split by grade level.  On Tuesdays, Field Trips will be for grades 2nd. - 5th. Grade.  On Thursdays, Field Trips will be grades K - 1st. Grade.  There will be a stay back group on Tuesdays and Thursdays.   The field trip fee is $65.00 and you will also be required to purchase the new PK field trip shirt for $5.00. There is an option to choose the field trip on the registration..  Please remember to have your child wear the field trip t-shirt as well as comfortable shoes (tennis shoes are preferred - flip flops are not allowed). You will need to also bring a lunch that is packed in a throw away bag, as we do not have access to the bus to return lunch containers.

PSPK field trips: PSPK field trips do not have a stay-back group.

Sunscreen: There is a $10.00 sunscreen fee per child that is required for all PK/PSPK students. Sunscreen is applied at 9:00 am, noon, again at the whistle at the pool if your child is swimming, and 3:00 pm. If your child has a sensitivity and you need to provide your own sunscreen, please contact Jenny Baker at 634-1321 for prior approval.

Swimming Lessons:   You may sign your child up for lessons at City of Kasson Aquatic Center and then email Jenny Baker at j.baker@komets.k12.mn.us if your child will be participating in either the June 19th-23th session (9:15am-10am) or July 10th -14th (9:15am-10am) session. PK staff will walk registered participants to/from only either of these sessions. Please note: All participants must be 5 years in age and 48” tall for Red Cross lessons.                                              

Lunches: There is NOT a lunch service for summer PK/PSPK. Please make sure to pack your child a cold lunch each day that they will attend. We are not able to house lunches in our refrigerator, so please plan accordingly. The staff microwave is not able to be used at lunchtime. Please do not send heatable lunches. If your child does not bring a lunch, staff will make them one and your account will be charged $5.00/lunch. We will be having different days to sign up for food (such as pizza, sloppy joes, spaghetti, etc) approximately once a week at varying costs (See the calendar link for dates/prices.) A survey will be sent out prior to each date to take orders. Please note that your account will be charged once the cut-off date has passed regardless of attendance.

Pool Passes: are available for purchase by clicking here: Pool Pass 2017 If your child will be swimming, please send their swimsuit and a towel. We will also have the park staffed for any children who will not be swimming. If you have a pool pass from last year, your number will remain the same and we do have that on file. If you do not yet have a pass and intend on getting one, please let Jenny know your number once you have it. Her email is j.baker@komets.k12.mn.us This allows us to have a list ready to present to the pool staff so the children do not have to wait in line. Your child will be assigned a colored band indicating where they are allowed to be in the pool reflecting what you’ve indicated on your contract.

Flip Flops: are not allowed on the play equipment at the elementary, middle school or North Park. Please make sure your child/ren have a pair of comfortable shoes to wear each day that are not flip flops.

Money: Your child will be responsible for keeping track of their money.  The staff will not be responsible for transporting any money, for any child. Please communicate to your child what his/her spending limits are….staff are not responsible for tracking their spending.  PK is not responsible for any money lost by your child.

Something new this year! If you have an individual or family membership, you can set up an account at the Kasson pool for your child to buy concessions on the first day of Aquatic Center.

Community Education classes: PK staff will bring any child to/from any class if you have registered your child through Community Education and that class is held at one of the K-M campuses between the hours of 8 am - 5:30 pm. There are some advertisements in the brochure that are not run through Community Ed. -  PK will not transport children for those. If you’re uncertain, please make sure to check with Jenny Baker at 634-1306 or j.baker@komets.k12.mn.us.

Payments: are due on the 1st and 15th of each month. If you prefer to pay monthly or on different dates, please let Jenny B. know so she can mark the account accordingly. A $25.00 fee will be charged to any payments received later than 30 days after the charge has been made, as per the contract. For your convenience, you may use the grey payment box located outside of CE1 for checks. Please see a staff member to get a receipt if you’re paying with cash. You may also use the parent computer to swipe a card or pay online at: Payment Link You will not be able to view your account, but you will be able to make a payment. We also have an option available called Tuition Express which automatically deducts from your checking, savings or from a credit or debit card on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. Set amounts or payment in full may be created. If you’d like more information or would like to sign up for Tuition Express, please contact Jenny B.

Water Bottles: Your child is encouraged to bring a water bottle each day. Please make sure to have it labeled with their name on it.

Reading time:  Children are encouraged to bring books from home as one of the morning stations includes reading for 20-30 minutes each day. If your child does not have a book, they may use one of PK’s for the day.

Student Drop Off: As noted in the handbook on page 8 (link provided below), for your child’s safety, a parent/adult must sign the child in/out using the parent computer located in CE1. This attendance program keeps a record of the dates and times your child is at PK/PSPK. All children must be accompanied by an adult or sibling age 13 or older to PK. If you have a child between the ages of 13-18 that will be clocking your child in/out, you must have a written permission slip for the release of that child. This permission slip will remain in your child’s folder at all times. For safety reasons, DO NOT DROP your child/ren off near the door. An unaccompanied child’s parent(s) will be called to come pick them up.
